You Are Not Alone
Do you feel like Dr. Jekyl Ms. Hyde? Do you routinely have to cancel plans around “that time” of the month? Do you experience suicidal ideation for a period every month? Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a unique type of mood disorder. One day you could be feeling happy and optimistic, then suddenly it is as if a dark blanket comes over your life and all you can see is bleakness and pain. At first you might not even realize that your sudden dip in mood is related to your menstrual cycle, as oftentimes symptoms pop-up in the early luteal phase or even during ovulation. After a few days to even a few weeks of suffering, you might feel normal for a time, but then you are right back in the chaotic whirlwind of PMDD again, unable to distinguish what has happened to you until damage is done: whether in your primary relationship, your job, your family, or your relationship with yourself.
While I cannot treat the cause of PMDD, I can help you work with your symptoms. First, I help you get to know your unique version PMDD or PME, as every woman has a unique experience. Then, I teach mindfulness and distress tolerance skills. Finally, we work together in building your self-compassion and self-love, so that step by step you can move beyond surviving and back to enjoying yourself and your life.
